twisted
for days now i’ve thought of almost nothing else
words swim across the page in gently flowing rivers
the sun bleeds itself dry as it vies for my attention
a pebble in my shoe strives to become a nuisance
minutes and hours unfold themselves and flatten
a penny rolls across the floor and lies there
still
everything i’ve ever felt rises to the surface
i seek out stars and find nothing but glitter
a flower in a purple vase begins to wilt
vines grow through the wall that acts as support
a green leaf turns crimson and spins to the ground
water laps at the shores of forgiveness
quiet
from directly above, the peak of a mountain
is only one shade lighter than the valley

lots of angst from pebbles to glitter…but, i know your words help you float from these times going forward….i soo enjoy your poems.

Such a way with words .. they seem to flow from your ‘pen’ .. and that vine, oh my, I think its wisteria which makes it all the more perfect illustration for this poem.

So beautifully written . . . .

love that line “pebble in my shoe strives to become a nuisance” … sometimes, there are several in my shoes!

Wow, such beautiful imagery. Wonderful poem. I think my favorite line is “i seek out stars and find nothing but glitter” That just conjures up such a gorgeous, yet somber image.

such a serene write… beautiful images

love the rich imagery here…the penny rolling across the floor, then lying…still…. this feels like playing very thoughtful one chord after the other on a piano…seeking and unravelling the melody..sustaining long after the tunes died away… beautiful

Lovely, Kel!

Beautiful poem. I really like the second stanza, with the imagery of time unfolding and flattening. I love the format as well, with the two stanzas followed by a single word. Great write.

Wonderful imagery, there is no moving forward without forgiving or forgiveness, is there?

Beautiful…so many great lines .

Love the variety of images and the lyrical quality.
“i seek out stars and find nothing but glitter”
That’s kind of deep and easily accessible at the same time.

I just totally fell into your quiet, still little world Mrs. Mediocrity……. thank you for this lovely, entertaining slice of sun-bleeding beauty…. well written, imagined, and enjoyed!

This is pretty cool–mood of pensive reverie, a dash of entropy, mixed with some feeling of impending decision, a weighing in the last lines. Subtle and effective piece.

Beautiful, deep imagery in your poem…I feel enriched from reading it, thank you

Excellent write, really enjoyed it. The still and quiet are place perfectly and everything after still is amazing. Great job, thanks for the read

the beginning sounds like you just HAD to write this poem….it was begging to be written and would not leave you alone till you did it.

Loved your opening lines

Very well done…
the statement of a single word….
still
and . . .
i seek out stars and find nothing but glitter.

A beautiful depiction of someone who has seen the passage of time and understands how cool all those changes are.

Such a feast of images! Lovely…
That pebble in your shoe seems to have become a pearl!
October 11th, 2011 at 11:39 pm
the sun bleeds dry seeking attention…wow…really some great lines all through the opening part…and that last thought, i like it much…smiles.

We had Star Jasmine vines that completely rotted out some lattice and bigger boards in just 7 years.
Lapping at the shores of forgiveness. Such an evocative image.
I hope between the mountain peak and the valley there is a nice tree-line with a patch of green meadow we all can enjoy.
And I’m finally happy with your sidebar button I just tweaked again.

yes, there’s something ‘twisted’ going on….I ‘get’ that feeling from the poem.
I like the line:
words swim across the page in gently flowing rivers
and the pebble trying to become a nuisance.
nice words & lines. this is a beautiful poem.
so many visuals!
thank you very much.
