soar
in my dreams i fly
to alaska
build a nest somewhere high
in the trees
lay in a stock of sharp pencils
marry words
to make sense of all i see

This was defiant and hopeful. Loved.

Yes! Alaska is on my list, too.

Been to Alaksa twice, the last time driving all the way up & back. The Alcan Highway is quite the adventure of itself; tons of wildlife–but the mosquitos ruined some of it for me. Take repellent & netting.

I would love to see Alaska but it’s such a long way to go! I’ll have to go up to Scotland – it’s kind of similar if you travel north enough – and the sort of place I could ‘lay in a stock of sharp pencils /
marry words / to make sense of all i see.’ 🙂

Alaska sounds so wonderful… fortunately northern Scandinavia has some similar features… but to nest with pencils sounds perfect

I can see you flying and building that nest … you already marry words in the most perfect & profound way. love that image!

It is an amazing place. I think one of the best things about traveling is the chance to marry words to what we see. I suggest not going in June, though. I went in 1996 and still haven’t defrosted. Sorry I wasn’t writing at the time.

Alaska is a place I would love to see one day and I love your opening line ‘in my dreams I fly’.

I do. I do. I do. Forever.

Love that you chose a specific place for your “landing”. A beautiful and surreal dream, this is. Thanks for a wonderful prompt.

I like this post and the idea of flying. To take flight with your words and to make sense of it all. Bliss

As much as I do not like flying in a plane the idea of flying as a bird with that kind of freedom captures my imagination.

I’m sure you’d have many companions on this trip, now ~
