snow caps and invisible mountains
and i climb
through the crisp
of color reduction
wearing winter’s
white
too tight
straight jacket
and a bracelet
of faceted ice

winter can def feel like a straight jacket…ever tightening…spring will come soon enough….and what freedom we will feel…

Crisp, clear, monochrome hues… impeccable brushstrokes!

impeccable imagery. I think straight jacket is a great way to describe winter… You feel trapped in a way… driving is a bitch, can’t be bothered to walk cause ya might slip on ice… oy

If I had lived near trains or subways, perhaps winter would not have been so hard for me to care about; but here in WA state, too many hills, & way too much traffic slipping & sliding; everything comes to a stand still here, & wrecks, injuries, & tempers flare.

Great imagery. Succinct and wonderful.

I specially like that color reduction & tightness of wearing straight jacket ~ Good one Kelly ~

You conveyed a lot in a few words, Kelly. You made us feel aspects of winter much beyond the postcard clichés.

This is really a lovely poem, Kelly…I enjoyed the photo and your poetic imagery greatly.

Honestly.. i do not own any long pants.. and here in North Florida the upper teens do come.. here and there along with 70’s in January too…
Shorts are my way.. even in Catholic Church in bundled up Winter pews…
to the dismay of my elderly peers…at times.. hehe..understandably so..;)
Human behavior truly is interesting to me.. as i find the more covered up it is the less friendly it can be..
From the Halls of Super Walmart.. to the dance floor of twenty-somethings.. in rave dance style.. with jacket in tow.. and clothes up body.. the human heart..
can be repressed in woolen or cotton ways..:)
As skin is nature and nature is skin too..:)
with or without snowsNow..:)
