plain sight
you never mentioned you were in love
she says
words falling to the ground
with the whisper of melt
landing
trapped
in the outline
of forgotten footprints
heading off
in a different
direction

this one is a bit painful to me…it feels to be about things unsaid, until too late and already pulling apart…

Alas, a secret kept can lead relationships astray.. so much told in so few words..

oh that breaks my heart a bit… the sadness is palpable and i wish they had talked about their feelings earlier…

Wow, a punch to the poetic gut with this one; nice delivery & creative take on the prompt. I could not “hide” the secret I wrote about; but hey, we all hear a different saxophonist, right? I like the lines /trapped/in the outline/of forgotten footprints/.

I think this is beautiful. The brevity is gorgeous because it divulges just enough detail to sketch the scene. We are still left wondering, though, so the secret is still intact. I think we can all relate to that feeling of having missed telling someone, or wishing someone had told us, of love.

Ah.. one of the hardest parts of life in love giving and not returning.. and perhaps as hard for one who cannot receive.. as the giver of love who is not received..:)
