resurrection
they dressed her in an avalanche of neutral
andrew wyeth beige and winslow homer grey
winter sunrise and stormy mountain
forced her arms into deep black holes
wrapped her in yards of starless night sky
tied neatly with ribbons of pavement
her crown of thorns was a veil of apathy
covering over emerald eyes and hiding ruby lips
and her tall boots were caked
with cement
as if the sky could ever be tethered
as if a heart could be covered in silence
as if the hem of her crazy quilt skirt
wouldn’t always find a way to show through
no matter how they tried
her name was color
azure lavender
blue chartreuse
forest crimson
her mind was a hurricane of freedom
born again every third sunrise
with a litany of o’keeffe orange
and pollock purple
bleeding out from the tear
in her side
a permanent fountain
of dye

my god, but you are the best! never mind that i knew from the title that she would burst forth, i still held my breath when reading this, shivering when they forced her arms into those black holes. just effing brilliant.

her name was color…and her mind a hurricane of freedom…smiles…i like…very cool
the ribbons of pavement was a cool touch…
the veil of apathy quite evocative…
so visual…and so much color in this one…

Absolutely stunning and I have SO many favorite lines in this poem. Many thanks dear poet friend!
PS … the illustration photo is amazing and it is the perfect compliment to the poem.

Such a strong read, tremendous poetry; really enjoyed it, as Sun, Spring, Woman, Love readies herself to spew color onto the world like a warm canvas of Pollock purple to accompany the Wyeth beige, winslow homer gray, & O’Keefe orange; so very creative, daring, audacious; good job.
