the disappearing theory
of absolute aloneness
when you can laugh at your own insignificance
then you begin to understand
the world turns and you turn with it
we are all cogs and we are all stars
it was never your job to be a beautiful flower
but always your promise to set seed
the future is a rhyme you cannot hear
written from the way you stand today
refuse to cower
refuse to break
refuse to be defined
the sky is the mirror of forgiveness
there is no reflection and no
perfect light
you can grow in the darkest of corners
stretch yourself out
be alive in the paradox of possible
the wind will take you
or you will melt back into
earth’s wide open arms
the rain will cleanse you
not of your sins
but at least of the dust you carry
the sun will burn you
and the moon will steal pain
from the beauty of your wounds
tomorrow is only an idea
and you’ve already had plenty
of those
hang on
hang on
let go
the release
will be
your nirvana
your white knuckles
have always
been bone
.
.
.
.

i need your wisdom today…
an understanding of our insignificance but also our significance…
the future is a rhyme you cannot hear
written from the way you stand today…are my fav lines….we are not yet where we can see it, that is for sure….a lot of wisdom in this…

The release will be your nirvana… just awesome Kelly! This is great.

taking ourselves not too seriously but with a healthy dose of humbleness and humor…i like that.. being seeds…i like that much as well..

Wisdom, insight, wordsmithing, like all of it, MM. It is so hopeful at a time when we need to be reminded of our worth, our spirituality; for the media paints a bleak picture of each day, and the good news is def an inside job; thanks.

soulful write… really liked “it was never your job to be a beautiful flower
but always your promise to set seed” beautiful 🙂

I got hooked already of the wisdome of the first stanza . and then it just got better and better… a wonderful poem Kelly

I really loved the metaphysics of this poem, especially,’the sky is the mirror of forgiveness
there is no reflection and no
perfect light’ So heartfelt and matter of fact in the same breath. >KB

I like the beginning a lot. I do think it is important to laugh at our own insignificance, not to overvalue our own importance, and to know that we are all seeds to something – undoubtedly much greater than ourselves.
I also liked:
the wind will take you
or you will melt back into
earth’s wide open arms
which shows me that we are all part of a greater universe…one which birthed us and one to which we will return.

I so enjoyed this. The metaphors and wisdom are endless and refreshing to my soul. Thank you.

Amazing poem. You’ve written what I’ve been trying to write for some time.
September 24th, 2013 at 4:07 pm
And yet this is the hardest truth — it all seems so real and significant at times… Gorgeous poem!

I want to emphasize how much adore the title of the poem. I am working on expanding my poetic titles. Let’s continue together working on that aspect of our work. LOVE IT!

I love this, “the world turns and you turn with it
we are all cogs and we are all stars” both are true! Enjoyed the tone of this one.
September 24th, 2013 at 6:52 pm
“when you can laugh at your own insignificance
then you begin to understand” says it all and you wove that concept illustriously right to the end. beautiful poem

This was beautiful. I love the visual the piece itself presents, almost bridges connecting one stanza to the next.

First, unique title ~ Second, love the gentleness and kindness in your words ~ Some of my favorite lines are:
it was never your job to be a beautiful flower
but always your promise to set seed
and
the sky is the mirror of forgiveness
there is no reflection and no
perfect light
Words to treasure Kelly ~

This was thoroughly enjoyable to read, all the many times I have enjoyed it this evening. Well done.

WOW! this, the light of your blog, is an antidote for/of me, making me ‘be alive in the paradox of possible’ which is a V beautiful phrase and consequent idea, afterglow even.
The whole piece feels to me like an articulation of the positive possible yanging my Yin or should that be Yinging my Yang; regardless, I am blessed to feel the lightness here but with a sense of strength and defiance which prevents it from slipping thru the cracks . . . resilience and resonance and as ever a top top title!

Brilliant, Kelly ~ M

I read this straight after the sadness of Brian’s poem, and it brought cheer back . I don’t know if it’s what you intended, but it encouraged me, buoyed me up.
September 25th, 2013 at 8:16 am
I love this! Great write! 🙂

Your poem has a very artistic word placement that reads like an array of perfect flavor…… Aesthetically it is beautiful. As for content, I’m not sure that I understand the metaphors, but I did read it aloud and it does have a very appealing roll from the tongue….

What seems universally understood steeped in aesthetics; a successful write in that respect.
Cheers!

The most beautiful thing for the white knuckles to once again become flesh and blood…
