stained glass
pretty pictures
telling prism stories
and so much gets lost
in lead and separation
everything you see
is colored
by comparison
complement and
analogy
pattern and shade
rendition and
supplication
you have to listen
the wind
seeps in
between pane
and crack
the truth
is always
in the whispers

“everything you see is colored by comparison.”
i am stuck between trying to move past that and acceptance. xoxo

final stanza, lovely and true. enjoyed.

everything you see
is colored
by comparison…truth in that…and the double meaning too of the pane…the wind and whispers inbetween is def where you find the truth….

A perfect marriage of image and words, deliciously warm sustenance.

the truth is always in the whisper….true…and it needs trained ears to hear it.. and beauty is so often in brokenness

There is a cool detachment until the end, where the implications for every waking moment are profound.

Ahhhhh, like the subatomic space everything is more of than less, so does the wind whisper through the leaded portals to parallel supplications in colored glass.
And I have no idea what any of that means, except to say I love stained glass and the way you have shined light through it here.

Yes, the truth IS so often in the whispers, that which is not spoken aloud…but is there to hear if one only listens.
I like ‘so much gets lost in lead and separation.’

Love this!

Beautiful, as always, Kelli. And yes, the truth is in the whispers, or hiding in the things we won’t say.

‘..the truth
is always
in the whispers..’
loved this so much~
July 23rd, 2013 at 3:13 pm
Yes! Listen…love this. Complex and more than meets the eye- read through twice and it really is well written.
July 23rd, 2013 at 3:21 pm
yes, in the whispers indeed, so that we have to lean in close
July 23rd, 2013 at 3:33 pm
There are a lot of lies in whispers too…
July 23rd, 2013 at 3:37 pm
This is very good, I love the idea of it and the image it paints in my mind. Ever consider dropping the “ing” “Telling”? I find the simple present tense stronger in many situations. Matters not because it is a great poem either way.
July 23rd, 2013 at 3:37 pm
Loved the subtle lines and implications…” so much gets lost
in lead and separation”…beautiful.
July 23rd, 2013 at 3:45 pm
WOW… I just love your ending.
July 23rd, 2013 at 4:00 pm
The ruth is in the whisper…Lovely way to bring it all together.>KB

So true! This is so lovely, esp your close–
July 23rd, 2013 at 4:52 pm
Wonderful poem. The last two stanzas are gold!
July 23rd, 2013 at 5:45 pm
Oh, in the whispers, yes! Well said and a delicious read!
July 23rd, 2013 at 6:31 pm
Oh I like the ending here. The truth does seep in within the whispers. I like stained glass, now more so.
July 23rd, 2013 at 6:53 pm
I’m always about the whispers.
July 23rd, 2013 at 6:55 pm
truth is always in the whispers… great.

Brilliant and beautiful writing.

So finely tuned, there is not a wasted word in your stained glass creation. I’m glad you left in the whispers. Glorious. I imagine seeing leans a lot on prayer/supplication.
July 23rd, 2013 at 9:54 pm
The photo is stunning and the words perfection!
July 24th, 2013 at 12:15 am
Love the contrasting…
July 24th, 2013 at 1:53 am
how things in life can be misconstrued..things not seen, heard or altered. Nicely penned.
July 24th, 2013 at 3:23 am
where the wind seeps in.
lovely work!
July 24th, 2013 at 7:44 am
That little whisper, seeping into life–it takes a good deal of awareness to hear it when it comes. Beautiful work here!
July 24th, 2013 at 2:14 pm
Are you listening?
July 24th, 2013 at 5:12 pm
Such a powerful, soothing, and yet detailed piece. Very beautiful! Love the image too!
July 24th, 2013 at 7:20 pm
Such use of symbolism, personal and universal – holds together to make the last line so meaningful.
Well done.

This poem is pure magic. Great write.
July 25th, 2013 at 11:00 pm
Marvellous because of the simplicity and the subtlety of slant and the rhyme are pitch P for me as I extract some kind of perhaps existential peace from the PO: especially here:
complement and
analogy
pattern and shade
rendition and
supplication
you have to listen
Thank you
