the lone soldier
She lifted her face
to the moon
and sang the song
of soon be gone.
I stood before her
in a shivery bath
of shimmering light
as clouds rolled past
the face of night.
She lifted her face
to the moon
and sang the song
of soon be gone.
I stood before her
in a shivery bath
of shimmering light
as clouds rolled past
the face of night.

“…clouds rolled past the face of night.” what a visual. I love that! “shivery bath of shimmering light.” delicious. sadness, romance, mystery – all rolled up in one beautiful poem.

You know, one of my favorite things is to be out in the moonlight. There’s something magical and peaceful and ethereal and great solitude in it. Love the image too.
