not necessarily
in that order
the corn is thirsty
the farmers are hungry
vultures are sated
and herons
have moved on to greener pastures
i can’t see the beginning
or hear the end
i am cracked and bone dry brittle
i dance beneath the blue
of the somebody said so moon
i am alone but not at all lonely
i pitch a tent and
sit cross-legged in the dark
trees whisper of water
longing is an empty form of love
dehydration is the blind form of longing
and forty days would never be enough
to save us
from the landscape
of our lives

the landscape of our lives….a great title all by itself.

i am cracked and bone dry brittle
i dance beneath the blue
of the somebody said so moon
i am alone but not at all lonely….longing is an empty form of love….wow…i could seriously quote back to you just about every line….this is good stuff…and felt…from the want for rain to so much more…

“vultures are sated” gave me chills – they are indeed – but still. another moon made for dancing beneath, always, always. the trees’ whispers will be heard.

Great lines throughout. From “Longing is an empty…”through to the end, you’ve composed a knock-out finale to these images of incompleteness and emptiness. Much enjoyed.

Those last four lines… so true, but we forage ahead anyway. Which could be the beauty or the tragedy of it all.

I . . . I . . . I can’t even convey my thoughts. You constantly amaze me with your writing talent and the way you choose the perfect accompanying image. How blessed you are to have this ability.

Oh WOW! Everything about this is beautiful! How appropriate as I’m on my way to my parent’s farm today too! Happy Weekend!
