the blind spot of epiphany
it’s easy to miss
all those tiny trapped wishes
held aloft in tight spots and spaces
holding breath and
harboring hope
or at least something
resembling optimism
fragile
diaphanous
ethereal
that’s what you think
when you see them there
hanging on for dear life or
shuddering in the slightest breeze
just waiting to be set free
when in truth
they are stronger
than you

“all those tiny trapped wishes . . . ” it means they’re still there, and i am glad to hear that, that they are stronger than i, that they will still be there when i catch my breath. you always speak the truth.

some things that look so fragile are stronger than we think..including ourselves if i may say so… love the image that goes with the verse…just perfect..

Congratulations on a week off well spent…this hit the spot…those wishes are always working underneath the surface. Here’s hoping a few break through. Much enjoyed.

This reminds me of summers at the farm when my grandma was alive. I was a little girl running about exploring and finding magic everywhere I looked. Everything was mysterious and so fascinating (still is). Even the most delicate of webs – shivering in the breeze – so dainty – so intricate. Indeed stronger than we are and that is the beauty of it. LOVE.

I agree with Claudia, some things that seem fragile are stronger than we think…lovely capture. 🙂

This is beautiful–the strength of dreams and dandelion seeds.

Love the soft presentation, the language, and the potency that comes with knowing those wishes are stronger…they’ve kept me hanging on longer than I’ve ever dreamed.

Ah, those wishes are sneaky, aren’t they? They may seem weak, but they are VERY persistent.

Tiny trapped wishes is perfect. There’s a hundred stories in that one phrase.
Great great great.

I was just coasting along going “mmm hmmm, ” and then you hit me with that ending. Had to go back and reread it all. I would so like to think that those bubbles are strong enough to hold us all up…fly us where we need to go…and really, of course, they do. Good stuff.

This is really nice, enjoyed the “tiny wishes” being strong in the end and sometimes they certainly are.
August 7th, 2012 at 6:42 pm
Love the ending punch lines ~ Some fragile things or people are actually strong ~
August 7th, 2012 at 6:49 pm
just perfect….
today’s my birthday and this was a gift to me 🙂

They are stronger, those hopes. What a wonderful poem! K

The ending is such an explication of the title, those wishes made in childhood become goals and can sidetrack the erstwhile – aha! moment. Well composed!

Beautiful piece. I love the tension in these lines:
held aloft in tight spots and spaces
holding breath

Great piece. Some beautiful lines that stuck out at me, especially:
all those tiny trapped wishes
and…
holding breath and
harboring hope
…a great pic too!
