soul food: a list
::
running, especially in a light misty rain
lilacs and forget-me-nots
popcorn and movies with bare feet and windows open,
lemonade on the side
sundays in the garden with nothing else to do
hummingbirds and dragonflies
an endless stack of books
thunderstorms
staying up late and counting blessings like stars
notebooks filled with words
notebooks filled with empty pages
the golden light of sunset filtering around that corner
and landing just where george used to sit
music i’d forgotten i knew
music i haven’t discovered yet
baby robins
strawberries, dipped in dark chocolate
midnight
an outside fire with dylan and a glass of red wine
a morning serenade by a mockingbird
these buds that spell hope
again and again

you never ever fail to make me smile.
barefooted, YES, of course.
music I had forgotten I knew. I heard an old song
on the radio the other day and it runs thru my thoughts now, when my mind is quiet.
good write, Mrs. M.

my apologies for not dropping by, in like forever! But, as a consolation, I’d like you to know that I have been reading your posts diligently…really! And your words always take me away to another world.

I adore gardening in a light misty rain…
Sun & humidity just makes gardening miserable. 🙂
Color also gives me a soul-gasm. Ohh….
Lovely blog!

I loved this poem and how it included so many of the things I love. I want to carry it with me to pull out when I need a pick me up.
