cadence
when we first met
i used to lay my head on your chest
and listen to your heartbeat.
after all these years
i can hear it
even when you’re
not in the room.
the rhythm of my steps
the patterns of my days
the music of my life.
the shape of
you.
.

Great write. Romance in the truest sense, without sentimentality.

Oh, what a lucky MAN! But is it luck, really? OF COURSE NOT! Thank you. For your love for him……
PEACE!

After reading this, I’d suggest a name change. Neither of you is in the least ‘mediocre’ by any stretch or usage of the word.
This is wonderful…

Nice write. The shape of the piece itself really casts off well in its immediate position below the heart image. Very aptly penned for this day. Lovely sentiments on display. Thanks

There is a group of scholars who believe that all things, living or not, have their very own beat, a sort of song if you will, a set of mathematical equations, functions, or just numerical coincidences that lend themselves to a particular rhythm. It’s an age old school of thought, with even passages in the Bible suggesting that these songs exist for those with ears to hear. Over the past 40 years or so there has been a burgeoning increase of interest in the idea because of the relatively recent understanding of atoms, within which small planetary bodies tend to orbit around larger, polar opposite ones. We have developed a science to understand the interaction of these tiny orbiting elements, being able to predict their reactions when introduced to other orbiting bodies…. all on the basis of , again, mathematical conclusions….. I believe this is fascinating and firmly believe that yes, God did design a living song inside of every existing thing. I think it is a true wonderment, and a testament to everything of beauty around us. With all of that pondered during my reading of your poem, and now said and put aside, I just want to say that I think you found your song. And it is touching…..

You have to feel that unity to make it all hang together, thru thick and thin. Where’s the love but in the glue that binds hearts together in shared joy, shared hardship.

This is beautiful- so simple- yet perfectly placed words. This really captures those feelings of being n love, and being lucky enough myself to have felt them- I relate to this poem even more. The way you end it is so simple, so powerful- it just wraps it all up.

Yes!
Damn… this is great.
So good. Such amazingly simple sentiments but they are so powerful when you string them together.

Wonderfully said, and beautifully written.
When I saw the heart, I thought, “Is the heart half full, or half empty.” Mine is full and overflowing, not just on valentines day, but every day!
