elusive
you fold me into
your arms
and i cry
the tears
of existence.
i borrow my
grandmother’s
shoes and
dance in a veil
of moonlight.
you peer into
a dark mirror
and find
nothing but
silence and stars.
i take your hand
and i fill it
with the
beat beat beat
of my heart.
you reach
for the sky and
spill tattered bits
of worn blue velvet
to the ground.
we are all just
questions of hope
wrapped gently
in the cloak
of reality.

Wonderful as always Kelly.

Love that dancing just in your grandmother’s shoes and a vein of moonlight!
Never have been much for wrapping myself in mere reality, though.
Even in the beat, beat, beat there is so much mystery!
Thanks for the read.

This is moving in every way, and I love the ending especially. This feels a little different than some of your pieces, and I love it just as much as the others. You are a gift to all who read here 🙂

There is something very pensive, sad and sweet in your words. A lovely piece.

This whole poem has such a soft, dreamlike quality to me. I love the sentiment in this piece. “Wrapped in a cloak” felt so comforting.

Lovely imagery, appealing to all the senses. I find the binding of hope and reality so arresting, since they are, to me in some ways, the antithesis of one another.
