step right up
the moon circus calls
and i curtsy in the corner of contrition
the stars are here to witness
this comedy of error
my pirouette of promise
dance, she calls
and leaves skitter
howl, she cries
and trees bend
i stay up on my toes
spinning
spinning
plié
spinning
free

There was a time I wanted to run away and be free and then I realized that freedom I wanted was within me.

Sometimes you can lose yourself completely in the dance of a leaf, I know I do.
This is lovely prose.

You got me at the very first line. I love a good moon circus, and this one looks like the best kind. Esp like “leaves skitter/ howl…” great image.

How do you expect me to step right up when I’m so dizzy from spinning?..haha..wonderful verse.

I feel as light and free as a leaf after reading your words! Beautiful poem. 🙂
Here’s my poem for Open Link Night: Turn Up the Tomfoolery.

I really like your opening:
“the moon circus calls
and i curtsy in the corner of contrition
the stars are here to witness”
How great is “moon circus”?! Awesome. 🙂

I’m dizzy. I love it.

The photo grabbed me from the start and the staccato of hard c’s in the first two lines were like trip hammer shots driving me deeper into this piece. The remainder was a spinning dance of joy. The “corner of contrition” intrigues me. I may have sat in it a few times as a boy. And last week as a man. Very enjoyable read, Kelly. Thank you.

Love the above comment – It is a grand jete, a pirouette of images folding and bending in the light of the moon. Lovely.

i do so love the way you see your world…and what it is that you see that sends all these gorgeous words tumbling on to the page. i have come to rely on you (and debi for that matter) for that chance to step, just for a moment, into the most wondrous world.
