globe
an ocean of hope
sinks into my heart
and washes it clean
of bitterness.
yes,
only temporarily,
but,
that is
life.
::
i send those
tiny boats of optimism
back out
with the tide.
yes,
an exercise in futility,
but,
that is
hope.
::
always,
it rolls
back in.

right now, that hope is a superverb, doing more than you ever thought it capable of doing. i think little pieces break off and float further out into the ocean and land where they’re most needed. you changed my mind about this word, showed me it COULD be active and i think yours IS, and i like the fact that it even comes back to you, so you can strengthen it and send it back out again.

let us cast out the life rafts and lifebuoys of hope …
in our own hearts and far reaching …
your optimism is uplifting
and hopeful … : )

It is not easy to hold to hope – it is adrift, rolling in and rolling out, but so it goes. We can but watch the tides and smile at its return. Delightful.
